way to clear applied styles without lots of clicking?

If you have a modestly utilized style drop down it's very possible you could have 2 or 3 styles applied to any given piece of text. It's pretty easy to apply them, but removing them one by one, or all at once is confusing for first time users.

Is there a way to create a style that "clears" other styles? Or is there a button or some piece of functionality that performs this already?
