Greetings,
Will there ever be documentation for this
project?
It would be extremely helpful to include at
*least* a README and INSTALL file in the
archive that describes the best environment
and location(s) for an ideal install/ usage for
this project. As it is, there is only a URL included
which points to a wiki. This is *useless* in an
INTRAnet environment. This is surely considered
poor practice for any project. Documentation is
a *must*.
Sincerely,
Disappointed

RE: Where is the documentation?!
_whatsnew.html
_DOCUMENTATION.HTML
Insulting a project and calling it useless is not usually a way to get the community to want to help you...

RE: Where is the documentation?!
I have *NOT* called/ do *NOT* consider this
useless as you have chosen to state. Rather, I
have stated that the _documentation.html file
is useless as documentation. For if you had
actually looked at it, you would have discovered
(as I did/ and stated) it is a URL *NOT*
documentation. _whatsnew.html is just that
(whats new) - a featue/ bugs killed list. Not what
most would consider installation/ setup doc's.
SUMMARY:
1) Please read.
2) Stop insulting.
Thank you for all your time and consideration in this matter.
RE: Where is the documentation?!
You are right the documentation for installing / modifying the product is online. One would assume that since you were able to download the project, and since you are able to come online to get support for the project, that you would also be able to come online to look at the documentation.
I prefer the documents to be online, if they were in the install guide.. then updates to the documentation would only be available with each new version of the product... the way it is changes/updates to the documentation can be seen on any given day... But you and me disagree on this point I am sure, I hope that you do not let the lack of documentation included with the download prevent you from utilizing / contributing to this wonderful project.
Sincerely,
Satisfied
RE: Where is the documentation?!
Greetings,
Indeed, I do have a connection to the internet.
Actually I have had a large block of IP's and a
server farm since 1975. But that is not the point.
I agree that online - and evolving, documentation
is important. But that should *not* be an excuse
not to include documentation - such as it may be,
with the application/ project for those that have
little or no connection. Naturally, the documentation would also include a link to the
"evolving" online documentation.
Contributing to the project? Indeed. For those
interested, you can find a downloadable version
of the full (and current) documentation here:
http://www.dnswatch.com/FCKeditor/
I spent a few hours on it. It is an html version
and includes a plain text INSTALL file. I will
produce a pdf version soon.
