Safari support on Mac

Hi guys,

Just had a look at 2.0 Beta 1 and it looks great! Can't wait till it is released.

It seems to work OK on Mozilla on Mac OSX .... but not in Safari ... is Safari support planned at all?

It is only able to work using the relatively new Midas API that Mozilla introduced to allow for rich text editing that is comparable to the capabilities of Internet Explorer.

It won't work in Safari until Safari/Konqueror implements either the midas spec or creates their own new brand of rich text editing capabilities. I am sure the makers of FCK Editor would love to have it work in Safari/Konqueror but it would be impossible to do that using javascript.

For now you are going to have to settle for Netscape 7.1+, Mozilla 1.5+ and Firefox (and IE for Windows).

The same thing is true for Linux and Konqueror (which the Safari browser was derived from).

FCKeditor works just fine with Mozilla, not with Konqueror.

Safari and Konqueror use the same engine

Safari uses the kHTML engine, which is the core of Konqueror. Apple made modifications to the engine which they have subsequently given back to the original authors. As a result, if one doesn't support a feature so major (a richtext editor) then the other won't either.
