I don't mind the formatting (which I think can be turned off) it's the absense of the bottom scrollbar which tends to wrap the code making it difficult to read !
Ah. Well, I can tell you straightaway it will be easier for you to add a custom "view source" window and format it the way you want than anything else. Added benefit: you won't have to mod fckeditor every time you upgrade.
You can make a simple plugin that grabs the source from the editor instance and puts it in a textarea of your design and then puts it back when you are done.
If you want a backwards example of this idea, check out the "popup" sample @ http://www.unm.edu/~valliant/fckeditor/ that takes stuff from a textbox and puts it in the editor. Just reverse it and you should be good to go. It isn't a plugin, but you could make it one pretty easy, if'n you don't like the button being outside the editorarea.
