Passing Session("CKFinder_UserRole") value to FCKEditor/CKFi

In classic asp mode and under ie CKFinder does not recognise the Session("CKFinder_UserRole") variable when integrated with FCKEditor, probably due to it being contained within a separate pop up window rather than the iframe in standalone mode. Does anyone know of a simple method i can use to pass session variables across ?

One method would be to check for Cookie instead but this would mean modifying the base code in FCKeditor which i am loath to do. Others must have had this issue as it also affects the session variable suggested for authentication ?!
