Non-breakable space

I downloaded CMSMS the other day and have been tinkering with it. It apparently uses FCKEditor

Anyways, I assume the editor is fairly updated (latest version) but I'm not sure.

When I type text every so often I get the random   inserted, when all i want is a normal space. It's littering my source with random   which is kind of annoying as I remove them manually...

Is there a fix for this? Is this a known bug, is there anything I can do except complain?
