Need help integrating FCK with external js.

I'm working on integrating FCK editor with a CFMX based content management system that embeds custom HTML-like tags into the content pages. These tags are then parsed before the page is generated for the website visitor.

With other editors, I've hacked in to the logic that switches between HTML and WYSIWYG views and transformed these tags as special images on the page that the user can easily manipulate. I'd like to see if anyone else has had experience doing this with FCK editor, or if it's something that I need to add to the feature request list, or if I can add this functionality into the code in CVS.
