Issue on CF5

I've been having problems off-and-on with the last couple releases and now again with the FC preview. I run a development version on my local XP machine with IIS. On Firefox, I keep getting username/password prompts when loading the editor. Once I start getting it, I've not been able to get rid of it. Doesn't seem to be a code issue that I can determine, since a file comparison between two versions, one that does it and one that doesn't often won't show any difference. And I can take a directory that was not doing it, rename it to something else, and point to that one, and then it will start coming up. Renaming it back to the original doesn't seem to help....once I start getting the prompt, I can't find a way to get rid of it. Any ideas? I only get it on CF5, running on CFMX does not seem to cause it, nor do I ever see it in IE.

Otherwise, the new version is working fairly well for me. Still some crashes in Firefox but definitely far better than RC3.

username/password issues with IIS... it is IIS, i'm guessing. you should check your permissions on the folders, and in IIS, and also for inet_user or whatever account that is IIS runs stuff as. Also maybe what user CF is running as. Um... something along those lines. Doesn't sound like FCKeditor per se.

Believe me, I've checked and rechecked and tried every setting I can think of, even giving the guest account full access. Doesn't help. In any case, isn't it strange that a windows permissions issue would show up only in Firefox? Also, did not have this issue until some of the more recent releases.

Its not in the least bit strange that it only occurs in firefox, IE supports NTLM authentication using your existing windows credentials, so the authentication happens seamlessly in the background, firefox does not support this, so it asks you for the username and password. As previously mentioned check that the IUSR_machinename account has permissions to the webroot, sounds like your user is the only one with access to it.

Okay, thanks for the information, I played around with the permissions a bit more and was able to get it working. Must have been a file higher up in my webroot that was effecting it, as just setting it on the fckeditor didn't correct the problem.
