Howto create an input on the toolbar

Hello,

I want to make an input for text on the toolbar. So I can enter some text there which will be somehow passed through when submitted.

Is this possible? And which plugin classes I have to look at?

Can you provide me with the sample code of how you achieved that? Maybe, atleast I can render the inputtext and then think about how to get a handle to the text.
