Help - Advise on how I can add my own custom buttons

Hello,

I am writing this post to see if somebody can give me some advise on the following:

I want to add my own custom buttons to FCKEditor to include special system specific tags and CSS tags into my text.

Has anybody done this? If so, can you give me some advise on where I should start?
