Re: FCKeditior and Drupal Installations
When I download the tar ball from the drupal.org site, expand and install, I get an error stating that the a file is missing (fckeditor.js IIRC).
Additionally, it seems that fckeditor.config.js (or something to that effect -- can you smell the n00b on me?) is also absent.
Any help from the powers that be would be of interest!

Re: FCKeditior and Drupal Installations
I'm not sure that the OP and I were really clear enough:

When we download the .zip file from the Drupal site and expand that file,
files that are supposed to be there aren't there!
That causes a problem that I'm not sure adding code can cure.

Re: FCKeditior and Drupal Installations
I know for me, there were 2 sets of files I had to download and combine.
http://drupal.org/project/fckeditor = the drupal components
http://ckeditor.com/download = the files that need to go into the fckeditor folder inside the main fckeditor
module folder.
you end up with something looking like /site/all/modules/fckeditor(the one from drupal's site)/fckeditor(the one you put in the files from ckeditor.com)
Give or take. It's working for me, though I'm having issues with the background showing, instead of a textarea color.
