I have been a FCKeditor user for years now, but have been unable to get the cross-browser versions working in my multi-site CMS. I gave it another go today and have been finally successful. I have to post because I don't know a single person who can appreciate the achievement.
I would not have been successful without posts on this forum from the lead team, whom I appreciate very much. Thank you guys, your work is awesome!
In particular the advice that your session is the key to identifying the location of images and data files was critical. I store my session variables in a table, keyed from the session id, but once I got all my support routines talking ok (session library, database library) from the connectors/php directory it was up and running. It took some time to realise that my php routines had to run relative to the connectors/php directory I made better progress (obvious to some, but not to me).
After I had it working on localhost, I uploaded to my server. It failed in IE but worked under Firefox. After ages of searching I realised that FileZilla was incorrectly uploading at least one of the js files (as ascii file). I reset to binary uploading and uploaded again and resolved the problem. I have to thank another post on this forum for pointing me the faulty file.
This is the place I've wanted to be since Vista and IE7 dumped the DHTMLEdit control, and finally I've caught up with everyone else. Cheers.
Thanks again to the team that makes this happen. You're miles ahead of everyone else as far as I can tell.
