Editor Textarea not working on Ubuntu/Firefox

On only my Ubuntu machine, the editor's textarea is not outlines, or focusable in Firefox 2.0.0.14 and Ubuntu 7.10.

When I completely clear the cache, everything is fine, until the next reload after an edit or two. Then the problem is back again.
No problem in Windows/FFox.

Any clues? Ideas? Debug strategies? It's killing us here.

Ok, it's firefug (1.05) causing the problem
But i reallly need firebug. Others in my team not having this problem, but they are using Ubuntu Heron. I'm still in feisty.

Tried both new versions of firebug. Same problem. Only disabling firebug solves problem.
