I have customized FCKEditor to behave exactly like a textarea, except it allows hyperlinks to be entered through the Link popup only
I have made good progress towards that goal -- for a demo, see http://www.pr.com/fckeditor.html
BUT I have one major remaining problem: hyperlinks and email addresses typed by the user are automatically converted into hyperlinks in IE5.5.+, which I would like to disable (It does not do it in Firefox)
I would like to make it an option in fckconfig.js: AutoDetectHyperlinks = true | false
If I can make it work, I'll be happy to contribute the code back to the community (if there is an interest).
It seems this behavior is a default setting of the MSHTML component, but I could not find a way to change it.
Could FCKeditor level capture the events sent by the to achieve the same goal somehow?
Any ideas or pointers welcome!
Thanks,
Guillaume

RE: Disable automatic detection of links with
Not sure if this is useful for the fckeditor implementation but found a page on msdn about this...
"IDM_AUTOURLDETECT_MODE: Takes a VT_BOOL. By default, the Editor will automatically create a hyperlink for any text that is formatted as a URL. Use this command to turn automatic URL detection on and off."
from: <a href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/brow ... l_Commands">Using the MSHTML Editor's Extra Features (Internet Explorer - Editing)</a>.
hope this helps!
