I have been happily testing modifications of the samples on my PC using Firefox & SeaMonkey and it all works fine - the editor runs directly from the unzipped file on my PC.
But when I try to do the same thing from files using IE7 the content of the editor window is an IE-generated error message.
I can only get IE to work locally if I serve the files from apache running on localhost.
Is there any way to get the editor to work in IE directly from the files without the need for a webserver?

Re: Clientside in Internet Explorer?
If you use the 2.6beta or a nightly they will work. The problem was fixed in http://dev.fckeditor.net/ticket/1627
