i am newbie here. can i upload an image into different folders, as JCE? i think . . can i browse folder on ftp for upload images. or i can upload images only to "one" user folder.
I am thinking about switching from JCE, but this bothers me too

Try the Joomla module version
CK itself is a javascript app, and javascript cannot in principle upload anything, being confined to the user's browser environment. Where uploaders are in use they are typically written in php and run on the webserver, and take instructions from CK by way of parameters to a special URL. There are commercial and free file uploaders available for CK.
JCE is a Joomla add-on, hence it can call on pre-existing Joomla components for such actions as uploading. CK is also available in this format, from here. Haven't tried it as I don't use Joomla any more (too many security issues!) but it should do what you want. Either that or look up CKFinder or KCFinder. eXtplorer is also a good standalone choice for file management.
