any way to stop the auto tag replacement?

I have plug in that inserts a div with nested span tag for formatting ( along with other stuff ). The editor is deleting the div tags. Is there a way to turn off the "Feature" that is screwing up the plugin?

If you are using CKEditor 4.1

If you are using CKEditor 4.1 and above, you can:

turn Advanced Content Filter off or
adjust your plugin to work with the filter by adding one line of code to your plugin, defining the allowed tags that you want to insert.
