I have implemented the standard editor but I have something strange happening. Each time the keyboard is pressed the editor area grows by a line for each key press. Is there a setting that I should set so this does not happen?

I haven't seen anything similar. Does the same happen for you on official CKEditor samples? E.g. on http://ckeditor.com/demo#inline?
Anyway, you should report this issue on http://dev.ckeditor.com, because it sounds bad. But you need to provide more details, because we need to reproduce this issue.

Observe the inline editor did
Observe the inline editor did not grow in height. It appears that the inline editor grows correctly when inserting line breaks for all lines but the last line.

Sorry, I meant to say standard editor and not the inline editor. I am assuming that there must be something that I have set to cause this since, for example, the standard editor used here in the forum does not grow.
