Hi there, I have been developing a front editing plugin for wordpress and up till now I have been using Aloha, but it looks like CKEditor may be an option...
But looking at the wordpress plugin for CKEditor it doesn't appear to have inline functionality yet.
Is this true and if so how long do you think it might be untill this happens?
Raptor Editor has an inline mode for WP front end
Just wondering why this post is being ignored? Hope I have not offended anyone.
Just to let any other interested parties know that there is an alternative to Aloha now for front end editing inline:-
http://www.raptor-editor.com
This is not as full featured as the Aloha version (you cannot edit titles or widgets) but is a step ahead of CK Editor since it is inline.
Any update on when this might be implimented in CKEditor for wordpress?
It's not up to CKEditor when
It's not up to CKEditor when WordPress update their plugins. You need to ask on the Wordpress forums when they plan to update to the latest CKEditor.
The CKEditor for WordPress
The CKEditor for WordPress plugin is, indeed, developed by the CKSource team. It was updated to CKEditor 4 in December 2012, but our inline editing model is not really compatible with WordPress backend as inline editing would require a completely different concept for integrating the editor with your websites. There is no ETA on introducing inline editing for WordPress yet, sorry.
