Hi, we are implementing an editor in our application and we need the editor to be compatible with Android devices. I've heard that CKEditor will be so with version 5.
So my question is do you have an estimate on when it will be released?
Yep, CKEditor 5 will have good mobile support in terms of technical support and mobile interface. But CKEditor 5 most probably won't be released this year. There is a lot of work to do it the good way with a new interface and a new UX.
However...
I did a research 2 weeks ago how CKEditor 4 works on mobile. Because Chrome is default browser in the newest Androind (since 4.4.1) I testes this browser (there are more then 10 different web browsers for Android and it would be impossible to support all of them).
Beside about 10 bugs CKEditor 4 works pretty fine on Chrome on Android and most of these bugs are not very critical. Currently we (core devs) have a lot of other tasks and not yet decided how big effort we can put in the mobile support for CKEditor 4. If you need this features to be fixed you can fork the project on GitHub, fix them by yourself and make a pull request or if you want us to fix this bugs sooner you can buy custom development.
Thanks for the quick reply, it looks like a great editor and yes I've found the way to activate it for android devices, but out of the box it didn't work on my nexus 5 so I started looking for a way to activate it. Can't wait to see what v5 looks like...
I moved your question to more
