where did the cursor go?

I've just started with a simple sample using the startup code from the web site, which at first glance worked fine. The only difference in my code is I've embedded ckEditor in one of several tabs. When I first go to the tab with the editor all is OK, I click on the text area, the cursor appears and I can enter and format text without problem. However if I move to another tab and then tab back to the tab with ckEditor, I can not get focus back in the text area to enter additional text. That is to say I can not get the cursor back on in the text area. I assume this is not normal behavior, but how do I correct the situation?
