I just installed CKEditor 3 and found the following problem:
when text is entered with left alignment no "style" parameter is added. that leads to the undesired outcome that the alignment currently in place is used instead of left. Here the resulting source view:
<table align="center" border="0" width="657" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<td align="center" valign="top">
this is the text entered via CKEditor
<p>
testing alignment:</p>
<p>
left</p>
<p style="text-align: center">
center</p>
<p style="text-align: right">
right</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">
justify</p>
end of CKEditor entered text</td>
</tr>
</table>
The result is that the intended left alignment (line 2) displays the text as center aligned - same result in IE and FF. style="text-align: left" for the left alignment would fix that.
Any idea how to fix it without going into source mode and modifying the <p> statement? I am currently getting around by using "justify" instead of left, but that can't be the solution.
version I am using: 3.0.1 - downloaded October 26, 2009

Re: text left alignment
It doesn't left-justify text, the button is enabled but it doesn't stay highlighted if clicked (reverts to center). If I select right justify it will add: to the source and update the screen correctly. If I then select the left justify button, it will remove the above code but not add left alignment. It then displays the center button as selected. Funnily enough pressing the center button doesn't add any code to the source either.
I have an overall text align-left selected on the actual output page therefore I can get around it, but the user may not know this so I'd like to resolve it.
I can also edit the source to change alignment to left but again this is not ideal.
New to CKEditor and overall I'm loving it. Trying to get CKFinder working on an old asp1.1 server but that's for another topic, but it looks like it will be a fantastic solution too.
I'm using: CKEditor 3.3 (revision 5542)
thanks for your help...
Re: text left alignment
Re: text left alignment
Tried the latest build, looking in firebug it's clear that this is coming from a text-align:center that I have in the css for the whole BODY tag, despite the text area being inside multiple divs with text-align:left. Once I remove the centre style from the body it works perfectly.
Is this still a bug?
Thanks.

Still no luck, but appreciate any further suggestions.
Re: text left alignment
Hi,
it does not really make much sense to report and investigate the issue that could occur in such an old CKEditor version... CKEditor is currently at version 3.6.2, with lots of bug fixes that were introduced since CKEditor 3.3.1, so please be so kind to check it on the nightly version first: http://nightly.ckeditor.com/ and/or upgrade your editor installation. Good luck!

Having similar issues as posted above.
details:
Editing from front end or back end
when typing into the editor the text renders as displaying left aligned.
After saving and reopening the editor the text appears to be left aligned. [no code for it though]
Front end display
When looking at the Front end resultant page the text is Justified.
Altering the CSS to display text left aligned does nothing.
=================
The only fix I found was to deliberately set all text to center [cntr tab] and then manually change the source code to left align.
This is pass-able for small entries but for large multi page documents is incredibly tedious work. Especially if compex tables are involved.
The question I wanted to ask as an aside to the above:
Can the configuration set up using advanced configuration be used to force the editor to write text align left as the default alignment rather than what appears to be no defaut set.? [Including coding the source html]
Is there a way to solve this issue by using the advanced config section in set up?
