I almost finished coding a custom dialog to the Link dialog, in order to add a "rel" attribute. However it seemed to be much more trouble than it's worth.
Why is there no field for the "rel" attriute anyway? It's a standard and very important attribute.
I found this ticket that (I think) says it might be implemented in 3.6:
