I am trying to determine if CKEditor will support me in creating a totally custom and detached toolbar that does not use the built in tools at all. I wanted to create a toolbar of JQuery UI widgets and synchronize with CKEditor. In order to do this I would need to be able to send events to CKEditor, such as turn on/off bold or font face changes, and I would need to be able to query CKEditor for the styles in effect at the cursor insertion point and be notified as the cursor moves around the editor.
Does CKEditor support this level of integration, or is the supported model just to detach the built-in toolbar?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Totally custom toolbar
CKEditor is Open Source. If you want you can design it to launch rockets into space. To have an idea of what the editor is easily capable of, you should check out our API documentation.
