Remove the <br> tag on our text

I've used the php approach for this. So the br gets submitted, but once we need to retrieve the values and print them to the user, we remove the last chars corresponding to <br /> something like this on my case:

substr_replace($noticia->primeiro_paragrafo_noticia ,"",-7);
