I would like to use dynamic replacement of placeholders. e.g. [[placeholder]], with server-side ColdFusion code, to substitute textual fields from a database query, i.e. [[name]] will be replaced dynamically by a real name from a database record. The [P] button works well for insertion of the placeholder into the document from an accompanying dialog box. I have two questions:
1. Are the placeholders retained in the HTML version when the document is saved, i.e. will the server-side code be able to recognize a placeholder string like [[name]]? This is essential to create a generalized document template with variable fields.
2. Is there someway to use autosuggest or autocomplete inside the dialog to bring up a list of possible valid placeholders. Obviously, the spelling of the placeholder is critical to replacing it with the proper string value.
Currently, I am using FCKEDITOR, but would like to switch to CK Editor instead for the placeholder feature. An alternative would be to place the list of valid placeholders where a user can "drag" and "drop" them into the editor. I've read a lot about this, but cannot really find out how to do it, if indeed it is even possible.
