Dreamweaver does not EVER try to change the code, it only inserts new code when you add something new from the design bar or menu
I would be so happy to use a wysiwyg editor that does not change any code, but only adds new code when someone inserts text or a new element. fckeditor is coming close but you still add code to the code with out any editing being done.
This is important and the only reason people turn to your editor. But still no good for some things, there and many bugs if you try to add PHP or other coding to you html. So so so time consuming trying to find ways around this.

Re: Make it like DW
Just to exemplify, let's take IE and its terrible DOM. If you feed the browser with you beautiful XHTML code, like <p class="sample"><br /></p>, the browser will return you back <P class=sample><BR></P>. So, the best we can do is fixing this ugly thing to have the nice output we have today.
Dreamweaver is a huge desktop application instead. The application has full control of everything there, which makes it easy to provide the features you are talking about.
But, our editor is not here to compete with DW. Those are completely different applications, to be used at different scopes.

Maybe I think there is a problem of when does fckeditor converts the symbols into other code, it should not happen every time the graphical interface is viewed, but should only convert the symbols when a symbols is added to the graphical interface, this is the only difference between Dreamweaver and fckeditor, Maybe there could be one option to turn this on. I would donate some money if someone figured out how to do this.

The browser will pop you up ®, instead of ®.

If you want to keep up with the motion of web development you have to consider yourself as competing with client desktop applications like dreamweaver. It is called cloud technology. The best software is not attached to the clients computer but all is on the cloud free from downloading, all on the web. With enough research and will, it can be done.
Set an "unheard of" standard. If you don't define it who will? Your competitor will.
And look on the dark side of it all... if you don't Microsoft will
