Earlier this year the New York Times released a pretty cool track-changes plugin for wordpress and TinyMCE. Their implementation stores date and user, but no comment of why a particular change is made. NYT developers mentioned that their Track Changes code is loosely based on the excellent and robust track-changes functionality available in Squiz CMS. The NYT version is pared way down and is very basic.

Have the CKEditor devs considered adding some track-changes functionality to CKEditor? Clearly there is a server side aspect to storing discussions about track-change events, and that would have to be left up to end-users/developers to handle.
This is the future of online collaboration, and I'm curious to see whether this is something that may already be in the planning stages?

Feature request: track changes
We strongly support astembridge's feature request.
Amongst our users it's the most important missing feature that makes them reluctant to use CKEditor, rather than authoring in Word.
