I'm using version 3 - this problem was happening in 3.0.1 so I just upgraded to 3.1. When I use the editor and enter an Email link, instead of saving it as an email link, it converts it to a URL link and drops the subject and message.
For example:
I highlight the text name@domain.com and click the link tool.
From the Link Type menu, I choose E-mail. Then I enter the email address, subject, and message (for this example, let's say I enter Test for the subject and Test Message for the message). Then I click OK.
Before saving the text, if I immediately click the link tool and look at it, it has changed the Link Type to URL and other, but the mailto: info is all there (mailto:name@domain.com?subject=test&body=test message).
If I save the text, it actually saves the link as mailto:name@domain.com?subject. On the page, the link is an email link, and it opens an email and puts in the email address, but not the subject and message. This happens regardless of whether I put in a single letter or words for the subject and message - it just won't save it.
Any ideas what is going on and what I can do to fix this?
