Automatically (more or less) detect and add hyperlinks?

I have some text with things like www.welton.it and http://twitter.com in it. They aren't linked. Since there are a number of them, it'd be nice to have some sort of plugin that automatically hyperlinks them. Is there anything like that out there?

If not, perhaps I will work on it and post it here.
