Add smilies?

Our new forum software (still in beta) has added ckeditor and I would like to know how to add more smileys? Could somebody explain how in plain english? The editor they are using uses a pop-down box at the bottom of the editor and I would sure like to have the smileys displayed like this editor off to the side, any way to do that too?
