ALWAYS inserting a paragraph tag when pasting text

Every time i paste text from one source (like email, word, etc) into ckeditor, it always inserts a

<p>&nbsp;</p>

before the actual text. This has led to countless pages having an extra space where I don't want one.

Is there a fix or a patch for this?
