After an incredible development period, full of challenges and enriched by brilliant ideas, here we are with the Beta for the most important release of FCKeditor since version 2.0. It brings not only Safari and Opera support, but also introduces incredibly powerful features.
The new Style System gives full control of the generated markup to developers' hands. Why having a limited interface to achieve a XHTML 1.1 experience? Enjoy a full featured editor, while well controlling how things work on it. No more <font> tags? Well, the system is so flexible that it is up to you to decide (but don't worry... no <font> tags by default ).
Do you want more? What about blockquote support, the revamped Undo System, the Data Processor which makes it possible to handle non HTML data, and much more. And of course, lots of bug fixes.
It's too much to describe in these few lines. So, go ahead with FCKeditor 2.5 Beta, and enjoy a new editing experience!

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
I cannot run it on the demo site with my Opera Version 9.23 Build 8808.
Also, how about this advsory here: http://secunia.com/advisories/27123/
We are running an older version in our cms http://geeklog.net. How can we know if this vulnerability is present in an older version?
thanks
Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
FCKeditor 2.5 Beta is only supported on Opera 9.50+ as far as I know.
Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
@tokyoahead 2 : mhansson is correct, FCKeditor 2.5 Beta is compatible with Opera 9.50 (actually in alpha). Previous versions of Opera doesn't have the necessary features to provide a good editing experience.

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
Hmm, I had a javascript error once when I clicked the blockquote button. It was after I was playing with the 'Show blocks' buttons and inserted a table (maybe also looked at the selectboxes, but can't remember). I wasn't able to get the error again, so I guess I can't really submit a ticket. I believe it was complaining about something with F(1), but not sure and I also didn't check for the line number it was on...
Sorry for the vague information, but I thought it was worths mentioning anyhow

Excellent news... I shall be testing this in a moment...
Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
Already included in my editor component for Joomla - joomlafck2. Works a treat, the Safari compatibility really helps and no bugs found so far.

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
Will there be some documentation for the new features, i.e. the new style system ?
Testing a litte bit in the demo version, I found something which is buggy I think. The "show blocks" button shows something which is not in the source.
The following code shows an empty paragraph at the end which is not really there:

@gkgkgk : I'm sure it was a matter of cleaning up your browser's cache.
@everybody : If bugs are found, please open tickets at our development web site: http://dev.fckeditor.net

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
I've a troubleshooting with 2.5 beta release: how force '<strong>' and '<em>' tags instead of '<b>' and '<i>' when click on "B" or "i" button?
The configuration directive "FCKConfig.ForceStrongEm = true" doesn't work under Firefox 2.0.0.7 and IE 7...
There are always '<b>' and '<i>' tags in view source or HTML output...
Thanks for your suggests and sorry for my simple English, I'm French!
Best regards,
Avairet

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
In case any one is wondering, it just swaps them back and forth. If you send it one way and save, the next time its different if you save and send it again, it changes back to the original, and so on and so on. Its kinda frustrating.
I would be nice if this were fixed, for instance, maybe if all the attributes were placed in alphabetical order or something like that.
Great app, I like it besides the above mentioned problem

Edit:
PS. I see there is a feature request for this already in the tracker (#249). Is there any news if this is going to be added to 2.5?

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
@Alfonso:
I was wondering: would it be possible to add an extra class to those empty paragraphs.
That would made it possible for me to make them 'invisible' when editing a document.
Could you perhaps give a clue on how to do something like that?

Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
If a node has been added so the cursor has some place to stay, and now you want to hide that node,... where will the cursor end up?
Re: FCKeditor 2.5 Beta released
In my case 'normal' paragraphs have a grey background.
If i could manage to add a specific class to those extra paragraphs, I could style them with color: #000; and background: #fff.
So in fact I'm looking for the places in the source-code were those extra paragraphs are added.
