CKEditor 4 Beta Released

We are happy to announce the release of the much-awaited CKEditor 4 Beta! The rumors and speculations are over and you are welcome to try it before the official release!

CKEditor 4 represents one of the biggest advancements for us in terms of WYSIWYG functionality. It brings many new improvements, including Inline Editing, which makes the toolbar part of your final page. No more bulky text areas and "Preview" functions. CKEditor 4 Beta also has enhanced DOM and CSS performance, a reformatted source code, and many other improvements. Click here for more details...

I have not seen on the micro-site, what performances (including load) compared to version 3?

Better because most of the focus was given to functionality, not a million new features. On the outside it looks like not a lot was done. People will only notice the inline editing feature because it stands out. But most of the changes were done on the inside. Increased DOM and CSS performance, reformatted source code, improved copy-pasting, etc.

How about a ckeditor 4 subforum?

Looking very nice btw, am looking forward to using the inline editor.
Is there any place where we can find the updated documentation btw?

Surely people will only notice the inline editing feature, but for me the performance improvement is even more important.

You can find new API documentation here http://nightly-v4.ckeditor.com/ckeditor_api/ (do you like it? a lot has changed since v3 about that as well )

Tutorial, howtos and other manuals still have to be updated. They should be ready before the final 4.0 release. At the moment check out the code of our samples, which should be enough for playing with new features .

We're still discussing what to do with the forum: whether to have a separate one, renaming CKEditor 3 to 4, or just removing the numbering and having a general CKEditor forum.

I think so. We're very close to the release, so version in repository shouldn't be much buggier than any other release.

Good day!

I have just installed new ckeditor 4 on my web-site and it works great, except one thing: can't get a full toolbar set!

In samples there is a section:

Full toolbar configuration

Below you can see editor with full toolbar, generated automatically by the editor.

Note: To create editor instance with full toolbar you don't have to set anything. Just leave toolbar and toolbarGroups with the default, null values.

But that does not work even in the sample, i have tried to set "toolbar: null" and "toolbarGroups: null" - also does not helps

Please help! What should do the trick?

Tried reporting a bug in Developer section, but would not allow login, even though I am logged in here?

I have CKEditor version 4
Installed on wordpress 3.6 - no other plugins activated
Using Google chrome on windows 7
Genesis framework + child theme
I installed CKEditor through the search plugins feature in the installed plugins page

Have not yet reported as bug, in case it isn't, I'm a new user to CKEditor & have it running on my site as the only running plugin @ present.
I can create posts fine, all the buttons work. Its when I go to save a draft, I get the spinning update wheel of update death!

It just keeps spinning & my posts do-not get updated? I am also unable to publish?
My framework & core wordpress are fresh installations?

Can anyone advise?
