You cannot change most of the configuration options on the fly. Once editor is initialized, its configuration is read only, unless there's a method that makes it possible to modify some behaviour.
( entities_processNumerical = true converts Zero-width space characters to their HTML-entity, so they are visible in source mode. codemirror shows them as red dots, the normal code view renders them as invisible.)

find in source how the editor was called, here it's
so i can use
to kill it in the console,
modify something, eg.
