I have always used Joomla and JCE as my editor.
I am currently looking to use wordpress and CKEditor.
Yet, I simply cannot believe there is no simply way to disable p tags. I have spent hours trying to find a solution with no success at all.
Please tell me this is possible or you're going to release a version with this feature?
This needs to be as simple as possible for clients to use. They shouldn't have to go into the html to remove them.
Enterkey plugin
Have you tried this plugin:

Thank you for your reply but
Thank you for your reply but what am I supposed to do with that?
I downloaded it and tried to upload it as a "plugin" as it's described as a plugin. Wordpress says it's not a plugin. Tried to upload files. Nope. Tried to find some doucumentation that explains what to do, nope.
This is so frustrating. How can something as easy as having an editor that doesn't add code to text be so difficult?
This means nothing -
I can hit enter and get <br>
I can hit enter and get <br> each time but once I update the page its all wrapped in <p> tags. There is no need to wrap them in p tags
You need to edit the config.js
And add the line
In my case I add this to get the <br> :

I appreciate you taking the time for this.
Where exactly do I enter these?
I've went in to CKEditor > File Editor >ckeditor.config.js
I can get line breaks with <br> but the whole thing is wrapped in <p></p>
I must say it is very
I must say it is very worrying to be looking for a solution and seeing somebody with the same problem from over 7 years ago.
If JCE can do this for joomla why can absolutely nobody do this in wordpress?
I've now spent/wasted 2 days trying to fix something that shouldn't even be an issue.
I can't help you more, except
I can't help you more, except that you're probably looking for help in the wrong place.
These forums talk about the default CKEditor configuration, but you probably want to use the version adapted for Wordpress and how to adjust it (flh suggested you to use a CKEditor plugin, but instead you thought that he's talking about a wordpress plugin, so if you don't know the difference between them that means that you're not gonna get real help here because people won't know what to do with wordpress and how it's configured)
So, I can't use the CKEditor
So, I can't use the CKEditor site to get help for the CKEditor plugin for wordpress?
Brilliant, thank you.
Of course you can ask here, but most of the people won't have any idea about what you're asking or how to achieve that goal because removing the paragraph tags doesn't make any sense outside of WordPress
Are you editing in right file?
You say you go to "CKEditor > File Editor >ckeditor.config.js "
I don't know how you install CKEditor on Wordpress, but the file should be located in CKEditor/config.js
After editing, when you look at the source code, does it look alright before posting?
