CKEditor 3.5.3 Released!
We are glad to announce the latest release of CKEditor. CKEditor 3.5.3 is a maintenance release that follows the latest major version of our flagship product, CKEditor 3.5. It contains almost a hundred fixes and enhancements, including support for the latest editions of popular Web browsers, Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9. Additionally, WebKit browser users should also largely benefit from this release, as a workaround for Apple bug with styling empty elements has just been implemented in CKEditor.
Support for Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9
March 2011 was a particularly prolific month on the Web browser front, with two market leaders releasing major versions of their products. CKEditor 3.5.3 is now fully compatible with the final release versions of both Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9.
New CKEditor Features
As per popular request, CKEditor now supports adding the rel attribute to the link items. This attribute specifies a relationship between two resources and is heavily used in CSS-driven popups displaying image magnifications. A few further dialog window enhancements allow to define the initial width and height of the windows as well as improve the resize support.
CKEditor Bug Fixes
CKEditor 3.5.3 contains an important workaround for a nasty, 2-year-old WebKit bug that prevents styling of empty elements in Safari and Chrome. Another area that got special treatment in this release is pasting from Word — this prominent editor feature is now greatly improved, in particular when pasting lists. Last but not least, some problematic issues around line breaks and bi-directional text support were addressed.
