When I upload the fckeditor 2.6.1 tar.gz file to my server, and extract it there, it sets everything up.. but with permissions such that I cannot delete or change a lot of the files.
it creates folders with a permission of 555 (owner has read and execute permission, but not write permission), and the files with a permission of 444 (owner has read permission, but no write permission).
when I upload the files to my server, one by one using FTP, the permissions are 755 for the folders, and 644 for the files. when I upload with FTP, I don't have any problems changing or deleting files.
is there a reason for the files in the tar.gz being set up so that the owner does not have write permissions?
Thanks.

Re: problem with permissions when I extract the tar.gz on the se
I forgot and uploaded the gzip, then extracted it to the right place. Now I've got the problem that I can't change anything because of the permissions!
please give owner write permission of the files in the Gzip.
I am having this problem again with version 2.6.4
everything has these permissions:
folders: 555
files: 444
it should be:
folders: 755
files: 644
who do I contact about this?

This cannot be what was intended.
