FONT tag used instead of SPAN for text color

I've looked around on the forum and developer notes, but I can't figure out how to make FCK use SPAN instead of FONT for text color change. I thought setting FCKConfig.GeckoUseSPAN to true would do it, but it appears on IE as well.
