CKEditor Weekly for October 06, 2014

We're back with another CKEditor Weekly! There's obviously loads of news emerging from DrupalCon Amsterdam 2014, which the CKEditor team attended, so read on for details...

CKEditor in review

  • Four members of the CKSource team were in attendance representing CKEditor at DrupalCon Amsterdam 2014! We'll post a full recap of what transpired at the conference, but for now here's a short summary:
    • On Tuesday Wiktor Walc (CTO) and Robert Mikolajuk (PHP Developer) presented a session entitled CKEditor in Drupal 8 - The New Possibilities. You can view the video below:

    • On Wednesday, CKEditor Project Lead, Frederico Knabben, and Piotr Koszulinski (Lead JavaScript Developer) arrived in Amsterdam. All four members of the CKEditor core development team had dinner with Drupal community members Wim LeersAngela Byron (webchick), Bojhan Somers and many others.

    • That very same day, Drupal 8 Beta was released with CKEditor as the default WYSIWYG editor!

    • On Friday, Frederico Knabben and Piotr Koszulinski took part in Sprints.

This is but a small teaser of what the team experienced at the conference. The more interesting parts took place in between keynotes and events, while having dinner and talking with the many industry leaders, which we will recap soon.

  • Grzegorz Pabian was added to the CKEditor 5 project. He will have the big task of designing the new editor's architecture.

  • Work on CKEditor 4.4.6 and 4.5 has resumed. However, there will be yet another delay in development since the core team will be meeting in Warsaw, Poland, on October 16-17.

Around the Net

  • Markdevilliers updated the Nuget packages to the latest CKEditor Basic, Standard and Full versions.

  • P'unk Avenue released an update to their module that replaces Apostrophe’s content area with CKEditor. Apostrophe is an Open Source content management system built with Symfony.

  • Again, we'd like to remind everyone that Drupal 8 Beta is finally out! It includes CKEditor as the default rich text editor!
