CKEditor 4.5.5 Released

We are happy to announce the release of CKEditor 4.5.5. This is a minor release that includes some bug fixes and changes created with the upcoming release of Drupal 8 (where CKEditor will be included in core for the first time!) in mind. Read on for more information!

# CKEditor in Drupal 8 Core

Drupal 8 release is just around the corner, and CKEditor will be included in Drupal 8 core as the built-in WYSIWYG solution for the first time. For the last months (or actually, years) we've been working hard with the Drupal team to make it happen and CKEditor 4.5.5 is the final-touch release that includes some important changes which should make it easier to extend the Enhanced Image plugin. This widget-based plugin that lets you insert captioned images into your content will be used in the Drupal's CKEditor as the default solution. We're really looking forward to see this release implemented in the upcoming Drupal 8!

# CKEditor Fixes

This release also contains a number of bug fixes. We fixed a recent regression in Edge that could cause a browser crash and corrected a few problems in read-only mode as well as some issues with email links handled by the Link plugin. As is customary, some quality code patches were provided by our community - SamZiemer fixed an issue with the Link plugin altering the target attribute, and Stefan Rijnhart and Cyril Fluck introduced some changes into the editor destroy behavior.
